Use The Beadsmith Drawing Plate to simultaneously smooth, shape, condense, work-harden and lengthen knitted, crocheted woven or braided wire. This handy tool has 12 holes with varying diameter measurement, ranging from 1 - 7mm. The plate measures 6 x 2.25 inches and includes a handle, which does aid in hand fatigue.

This is a wooden tool with a smooth finish that will not scratch your wire. Use this stretcher with gold, silver, copper, permanent colored wire and flexible beading wire. To use, determine which hole most closely matches the current diameter or your chain. Next, insert the starter wire end of your chain into the selected hole, then grip the end with flat or chain nose pliers. While holding the draw plate in one hand, use the pliers to pull the whole chain through the plate in a smooth and steady motion. Repeat as needed to smooth and round your chain. To reduce the diameter, continue drawing your chain through consecutively smaller holes until you reach the desired size. You may need to draw through each sizer repeatedly for optimal results. As the diameter decreases, the length will increase. After drawing, the chain will be somewhat stiff so you can wiggle the chain between your fingers to loosen the weave.
